A €4 million Italian project is focusing on organic batteries as the “battery of the future.” The goal is to gradually replace traditional inorganic components with more sustainable, safe, and affordable organic materials.
The ORANGEES project , an acronym for ORgANics for Green Electrochemical Energy Storage , brings together leading Italian research institutions such as the CNR, ENEA, and IIT, along with the multinational Standex International. The initiative, launched in May 2023, will focus on the development of new hybrid and organic materials for electrolytes and electrode components.
